Mango Tree Church
|
One Saturday morning in 2006, at a seminar to educate itinerant building workers about HIV/AIDS, we shared the gospel of Christ......and a miracle happened. Twenty six men were touched by the Spirit of God and received Christ into their lives. This was the birth of the Mango Tree Church. During the first two years of its existence the people met under a mango tree on some land owned by the Episcopal Church of Rwanda – rain or shine.
Then by faith - slowly, slowly – foundations were dug, walls were built, a roof was put on, the floor was laid ..........and the church that was a tree is now a building. Read a message they sent us in 2007. Building work began in 2009 and the roof was put in place in the summer of 2010. It has been a journey of love and faith, with people from UK and Norway helping both practically and financially. Much of the building work is being done by church members and volunteers. Since that time teams of young people from St John’s Evangelical Church in Linlithgow have been going over to help and building relationships with the pastor and members of the Mango Tree Church. In 2010 St John’s entered into a formal twinning relationship with this Anglican / Episcopal Church in Rwanda. It has all been an amazing journey of faith.
