Rwanda

RWANDA, a small country in Central Africa, about a third of the size of Scotland, is populated by 10 million people. 90% of the population are subsistence farmers. In 1994, there was a genocide in Rwanda and a million people were massacred in 100 days. As a result, 60% of the population is mostly widowed women.

Hazel Bech has been visiting Rwanda every year since 2000 and has seen massive changes taking place in that time. There has been a lot of progress made in rebuilding lives and relationships through forgiveness and reconciliation.
